Start-up@Centru aims to support entrepreneurs from the central region of Romania, creating a suitable framework for developing entrepreneurial skills and the establishment of non-agricultural business from the urban area. The program has a duration of 36 months being comprised of entrepreneurial courses and a contest with 48 winners. The selected entrepreneurs and their ideas will be funded. Moreover, the entrepreneurs will receive counseling and mentorship for their business plan.

The project is implemented by Structural Consulting Group – www.fonduri-structurale.ro together with Civitas Foundation for Civil Society Cluj-Napoca office, Iceberg Consulting, and Alba Iulia Municipality.

Civitas Foundation is one of the partners responsible for helping eight entrepreneurs to implement their business plan.

The courage, the passion and the need for change – three constants you can find in every business plan

The eight winning projects were initiated by passionate people who got up the courage to pursue their dreams or who want to bring extra value to society. For example, Mirela wants to create a consulting firm in public procurement through which she can provide guidance and support businesses that struggle with management problems. Her project has a social nature because she wants to reintegrate into society and demonstrate that she can bring extra value even when she is in difficulty. Mirela has over 25 years of experience in public procurement and an incredible determination to overcome the condition of a disabled person.

With over 11 years of experience in marketing and event management, Daniela wants to make her own business through which she can provide marketing consultancy and e-learning. She believes that e-learning represents an efficient and cost-effective solution for the big companies which want to improve the skills and knowledge of their employees. Her proposal involves a platform with useful resources which can help the entrepreneurs to generate sales using marketing.

The experience in the arrangement of the urban gardens and the passion for the beautifying the green spaces makes Adrian got up the courage to create his own business in this area. He strongly believes that a beautiful garden reduces daily stress and connects the human with nature. Every business from this program is different and includes also creating a gastropub with street food and fresh products. Besides the passion for gastronomy, the initiator of the business has experience in the culinary field, being a cook for over 4 years. In a similar note is also Adriana’s business, which involves the establishment of a bakery laboratory.

Business ideas from a collective need

Some of the businesses start from a collective need felt in the city. Whether is about the small size of the city or the limited resources, some people are motivated to bring change and to initiate what is missing. So is Ancuța, who aims to build a playground for children where they can have fun recreational activities. As such place didn’t exist in Câmpeni, her home city, she decided to create one. A place where children can have educational and fun activities through which they can develop their creativity, social skills, and self-confidence.

On the other hand, Barna bought a building in the historical center of Târgu Mureș to have it reconditioned. He wants to transform the building into a modern accommodation place with accessible prices for those who want to explore the city and its surroundings. Such business does not exist in Târgu Mureș. Therefore, Barna sees an opportunity to provide high-quality accommodation in the historical center of the city. Simultaneously, he will be able to create jobs in the area, raising the employment of the region.

Daniela’s business started from a collective need as well – a colon hydrotherapy practice through which she wants to educate the people about the importance of the colon and the disposal of undigested food. The colon hydrotherapy is a natural, non-invasive and painless washing method, which eliminates the toxins from the body. Such an approach on the local market of Târgu Mureș does not exist, which is why Daniela aims to raise awareness about the benefits and the advantages of this innovative method of inner hygiene.
