The teams of operational groups consist of farmers, researchers, agricultural consultants, and other interested parties.<\/p>\n

Each Operational Group identifies a problem and comes up with an innovative idea to test. The idea must always address a concrete issue faced by European farmers and\/or foresters.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Over 3,200 Operational Groups in the EU\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]According to the EU CAP Network<\/a>, an international network created by EIP-AGRI (European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability), more than 3,200 operational groups have been created since 2024. The goal is to fund another 6,600 such projects by 2027.[\/vc_column_text]

\"\"<\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]In Romania, there are 26 operational groups, and their activities can be followed on the website of the National Rural Network<\/a>. There, we can find a variety of solutions for the agricultural sector, ranging from increasing the tolerance of vegetables to radiation to monitoring each bee in a hive using technology to identify parasites.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]A Romanian Operational Group nominated for the EIP-AGRI Innovation Awards 2024\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Recently, the Bee Smart, Bee Healthy<\/a> project from Romania underwent a rigorous selection process by the EU CAP Network and was nominated for the final of the EIP-AGRI Innovation Awards 2024 in the digitalization category. The awards are given to innovative projects of operational groups in the European Union that contribute to increasing agricultural productivity and sustainability.<\/p>\n

Bee Smart, Bee Healthy proposes a monitoring and alert system based on a “smart” device that signals functional anomalies in a bee hive early. You can watch the presentation video of the initiative here<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text]

\"\"<\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]European Conference “EIP-AGRI Operational Groups: Innovation in practice”\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]At the beginning of May, part of the Civitas team attended the European Conference “EIP-AGRI Operational Groups: Innovation in practice,” organized by the EU CAP Network in Estoril, Portugal. The conference brought together the best agricultural and rural innovations in Europe, celebrating the achievements of Operational Groups in the EU.<\/p>\n

We were honored to also attend the EIP-AGRI Innovation Awards 2024 ceremony, where the Bee Smart, Bee Healthy project was nominated.[\/vc_column_text]

\"\"<\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]We spoke with experts from different countries in search of solutions to bring back home. We returned with a suitcase full of ideas and ready to take on the role of a link between farmers, cooperatives, research institutions, and the academic sector.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Also in May, we were pleased to participate in the RNDR workshop, where we discussed the cooperation model between farmers and research institutes within operational groups, a model that we can bring closer to the CoopNet cooperative network we created to help farmers in Romania develop their businesses.
